I lived and worked at the Topanga Corral Night Club in 1978... I remember my old friends from Canned Heat, the Terry Williams Band, the L.A. Rhythm Blues Band, Patti Davis, just too many nice people to list here... I and my ex-boyfriend G. Donald Massey were close friends of Gary Dokken... a bouncer at the Club for many years... we operated the "Food Concessions" nightly for visiting patron's... employed by the business owner's "Sandy Freeman & Sydney Fish" during 1978. We prepared excellent Mexican & American Cuisine for it's customer's. I have many fond memories including participating as an movie extra (bar scene fight... young female blonde at bar wearing black & red outfit) in the filming of movie "Flatbed Annie & Sweetie Pie-Lady Trucker's" starring "Annie Potts & Kim Darby"... LOL... I'm an experienced long haul Flatbed (Lady Trucker) Commercial Truck Driver. I also narrowly escaped abduction that occurred at my then "RV converted school bus home" parked behind the building... attacked by two strange weirdo's (men) when I was 18 years old! I later learned their names were "Kenneth Bianchi & his tall ugly faced cousin Buono", both acted mentally deranged! I saw a young lifeless young brunette haired woman sitting in back seat of their car... so sad that I couldn't help her escape their murder of her! Upon returning home, entering my school bus I discovered this dark haired man sitting on edge of my bed masturbating! I screamed at him to get out of my house... he just eerily gazed at me and asked me to come kneel down beside him & let him put his arms around me... I scrambled in terror out the bus, grabbed up my wood splitting mall & as he immediately emerged out the bus door, I threw it at him and ran towards this car which was parked sideways on the east side of the Corral building, this tall slender ugly pot-holed faced man turned and came at me screaming obscenities... I barely escaped his grasping ahold of me as I ran away from them down Topanga Canyon Blvd.... in terror for my life! I'm glad that Buono died in prison, but Bianchi is still alive serving time in Wallowa, WA! He should NEVER be granted parole! He's an insane killer!
This is a major shot in the dark but here go's, I am writing a novel and a major character in the book is the town of Topanga. I have a deep love and respect for the town and it's people. I grew up in the Valley and passed through on the way to the beach , work or just taking a drive to ease my mind. The Corral plays a major role in the book and I am just beside myself at the lack of info about the place online. Again, this is a shot in the dark but I would love to interview you and get an insider point of view for my novel. Any information you would be willing to share would be a blessing. Hope you are well and hope you see this. Peace.
